Rio Torto a été enregistré analogiquement en 15 jours et 15 nuits dans une maison surplombant des champs d'oliviers, à Rio Torto, Portugal, 2002.

Juste avant que certains ne partent travailler sur le projet Téléfax (Des courbes de choses invisibles, 2003), il s'agit du tout dernier projet du groupe français moan qui a sorti son premier album en 1996 (Éponyme) et un second en 1998 (Mont Mailhebiau, août 1962), dans lequel jouait le bassiste d'Experience, Francisco Esteves.

Rio Torto propose 10 morceaux, conçus comme de petits films. Ils racontent principalement les espoirs et les peurs de presque trentenaires. Ils donnent aussi une description du monde tel que le groupe le voyait au début des années 2000.

Entre indie folk, post-rock et shoegazing, Rio Torto a été produit par Rudy Coclet, du Rising Sun Studio, à Bruxelles (Arno, Girls in Hawaï).

Just before some left to work on the Téléfax project (Des courbes de choses invisibles, 2003), this is the latest project by French band moan, who released their first album in 1996 (Eponym) and a second in 1998 (Mont Mailhebiau, August 1962), featuring Experience bassist Francisco Esteves.

Rio Torto features 10 tracks, conceived as short movies. They tell the story of the hopes and fears of almost thirty-somethings. They also describe the world as the band saw it in the early 2000s.

Somewhere between indie folk, post-rock and shoegazing, Rio Torto was produced by Rudy Coclet of Brussels-based Rising Sun Studio (Arno, Girls in Hawaii).
